Slay the Spire 2: controller cannot operate menus or cards

This general input diagnosis separates missing controller detection from a menu that also fails with a mouse. It does not claim a specific new controller bug.

STRAIGHT TO THE SOLUTION

Start here

01

Compare mouse input

  1. Try the same button with a mouse. If it also fails, record the game state before changing controller profiles.
02

Connect one device

  1. Disconnect extra gamepads and test the intended controller directly over USB. Check whether Steam controller settings detect input.
03

Reset the layout

  1. Save your custom layout and test a standard gamepad layout without multiple bindings. Change the per-game Steam Input setting separately and compare again.
04

Report the blocked screen

  1. If only one screen hangs, note the card selection, reward and last input. Use in-game reporting with the build and controller model.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use a keyboard macro permanently?

Test a simple layout first. Extra macros make input harder to diagnose.
