Match the update to the failure
- Open Settings → Windows Update → Update history and locate KB5124010. Compare its installation date with the first launch failure.
- If the update is absent or the failure predates it, start with game-file verification and Elytra repair. Record your Windows build using winver.

Optional: roll back this specific update
- Save open work. Under Update history → Uninstall updates, select KB5124010 and uninstall it if offered. Restart the PC afterwards.
- You can also keep the update and wait for a correction. Do not remove unrelated packages speculatively; updates contain important improvements.
03
If uninstall is unavailable
- A history entry does not mean Windows can still remove that package separately. Do not force package removal with third-party scripts.
- Send Team17 support the full error, Windows build, installation date and the unavailable uninstall option.

Verify the result in game
- Launch through Steam, reach the menu and test a match for several minutes. Distinguish a remaining launch error from a later server error.
- If the problem returns, recheck update history. Return to a current supported Windows update level once compatibility has been restored.
