  1. Load a quiet existing checkpoint and note FPS with a fixed camera. Repeat later in a more demanding scene.

Lower resolution

  1. Reduce only resolution first. If FPS rises significantly, increase individual quality options gradually to find a usable compromise.

Check GPU assignment

  1. With multiple GPUs, inspect re9.exe in Windows → Display → Graphics. Select the powerful GPU for the comparison and restart the game.

Limit load

  1. Compare without background recording and with a sustainable FPS cap. If performance is unchanged, record GPU utilisation, CPU and settings for further diagnosis.
