Rule out spatial audio and enhancements
- Temporarily disable Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos or DTS.
- Turn off 3D audio in game. Test Windows audio enhancements and exclusive mode separately.
- Restart after each test and restore changes that do not help.
03
Isolate DACs and virtual mixers
- Fully close virtual mixers and headset mixing software, then select the physical output.
- Test the headset connected directly to the PC instead of through a hub or DAC.
- If audio stabilises, reintroduce devices and features individually.
04
Restart after changing devices
- Set the intended device as the Windows default output.
- Restart WARDOGS after a headset change or standby so it picks up the correct output.
05
Dropouts also affect other programs
- Record the interval, duration, output device and connection type.
- If audio drops simultaneously in the game, Discord and your browser, report it with DxDiag and the settings already tested.
There is no reliable general fix here for periodic system-wide audio dropouts.
